Johnson City Energy Authority approves first contracts for new substation

The Johnson City Energy Authority board of directors unanimously approved Monday $1.7 million worth of contract work to build a new substation between Jonesborough and Johnson City.

 Georgia-based Aubrey Silvey Enterprises Inc. will get the largest portion of spending, with a $1.4 million labor and material contract for the proposed Midway substation. Elizabethton’s Summers-Taylor Inc. will perform site work for $434,000 and KVA Inc. will provide the relay panel and associated equipment for $141,212.
